Parties Take To Web To Hit At Rivals In AP

Though there is still one year for general elections, political parties in the state have started indulging in verbal duels for one-upmanship in the run-up to the 2014 polls. Many have also started Internet campaigns to outdo their rivals.

The parties, which already have their own websites, are now using social networking sites to propagate their views and to pick holes in the policies of their rivals.

The YSR Congress has launched a hitech campaign against the TDP on YouTube.

Following Kiran Kumar Reddy government’s survival of the no-confidence motion with the support of the TDP, YSRC has made two videos.

The videos--one with a duration of 150 seconds and the another 30 seconds--have been made to highlight that the yellow party’s potshots at the government are completely insincere and both Congress and the TDP have joined hands to eliminate Jagan’s party.

The longer video shows the speeches of Naidu, made during his ongoing walkathon calling upon people to revolt against the state government. Then, it shows how the TDP boss describes N Kiran Kumar Reddy as an inefficient chief minister and calls upon the farmers to kill the Congress with swords and sickles.

The video ends with a satirical remark on how Naidu saved the state government by not backing the no-trust move against it.

In the second video, titled Mosthunna Mee Kosam, the TDP chief is seen giving a piggyback ride to Kiran Reddy against the backdrop of the high-voltage jibes of Naidu at the Congress. The video focuses on the absence of Naidu during the no-trust motion in the Assembly.

Meanwhile, the TDP is using sites like Facebook and Twitter to attack its political rivals. Naidu’s son Lokesh is posting critical remarks against rival parties.

The TDP is using its website, www.telugudesam.org, to host Naidu’s speeches, delivered during padayatra.

The BJP too is using the web to reach out to various sections. The party has got its own website, ap.bjp.org, to propagate its political philosophy. Party state president G Kishan Reddy is also maintaining a separate website, www.kishanreddy.com in order to attract people.

Even the Congress, which spends very little by way of publicity, has set up the site, www.apcongress.org. However, the site has become defunct.
